Abstract

Objective. To analyze the transformations, challenges, and perspectives of university governance in Latin America in the context of globalization, digitalization, and democratization. Method. Systematic literature review focused on academic studies, regulatory frameworks, and comparative experiences of institutional governance. Results. University governance in the region faces tensions between institutional autonomy, accountability, participation, and efficiency. Hybrid models in transition toward collaborative and adaptive governance are identified. Conclusions. Strengthening governance requires redesigning organizational structures, promoting multi-actor participation, and aligning educational goals with the social and technological challenges of the 21st century.
